Powell passed Seton Hall great Terry Dehere, setting a new program record.
Seton Hall senior guard Myles Powell continues to add to his legacy. The All-America candidate was named Big East Player of the Week for averaging 26.5 points per game in big road wins over Georgetown and Villanova. It was the sixth time in his career he’s won the honor, setting a new program record.
He is in outstanding company with his latest achievement. Terry Dehere won the award five times in his great career with the Pirates, including four times during the 1992-93 season. This season alone Powell has also won the award four times.
Powell was dominant in Seton Hall’s two road wins over Georgetown and Villanova. He scored 21 points in the first half against the Hoyas, his production helped lift the Pirates to victory where he finished with 34 points.
His 19 points, on 7-of-16 shooting from the field helped give Seton Hall their first road win at Villanova since 1994.
Powell is averaging 21.5 points per game this season (10th in the nation, 2nd in the Big East) and is the heart and soul of the Pirates. He’s a leading contender for the Wooden Award, Naismith Trophy, Oscar Robertson Trophy, Jerry West Award, and the Senior CLASS award.
The 10th-ranked Pirates (18-5, 10-1 conf) are positioning themselves for what could be an historic run in the postseason.
