Seton Hall is missing their closer, Bryce Aiken.
On Monday night, for the second straight game, the Pirates were without the six-foot graduate student.
Aiken has been unavailable since taking an elbow to the face in the team’s loss to Marquette, January 15.
Without Aiken, sidelined with a concussion, Seton Hall has shifted primary point guard duties to Kadary Richmond. If the last two games have shown us anything, it’s the Pirates sorely miss Aiken’s playmaking ability.
While Richmond is doing all he can with the expanded workload, his shooting has taken a nosedive. In Saturday’s 66-60 win over St. John’s, at the Garden, Richmond shot just 3-for-19 from the field. Those struggles continued on Monday night, he went 0-for-8 from the field with just three points. The Pirates were run out of their own gym by the Johnnies, 84-63.
Aiken, at 14.5 points per game, can make shots. Seton Hall misses his late-game leadership and clutch shooting. It remains to be see how long he will be out, injuries have been his biggest hurdle this season.
