New York Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson will reportedly miss two to four weeks with a sprained PCL in his right knee.
An MRI on Monday morning confirmed a mild sprain to the posterior cruciate ligament, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Wilson, the number 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, said his knee “twisted” and he “felt a pop” on a second-quarter hit by New England Patriots linebacker Matt Judon. He was able to limp off the field and, eventually, to the locker room.
Wilson did not return to the game, a 54-13 loss to the Patriots.
Expectations for the Jets (1-5) are they’ll turn to backup quarterback Mike White to start this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium.
White made his NFL debut Sunday in the loss to New England. He threw a 3-yard touchdown on his first pass after replacing Wilson. He finished with two interceptions, however, showed poise with completing 20 of 32 passes for 202 yards.
