Recovery time for Rortvedt to begin playing in games is expected to be 6-8 weeks.
Rortvedt underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Tuesday to repair a partially torn meniscus, the team announced.
The procedure went “as expected” and the 24-year-old Rortvedt is expected to be ready to play in games within six-to-eight weeks.
When Rortvedt arrived this spring in a trade with the Twins, along with Isiah Kiner Falefa, for Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela, he was dealing with an oblique injury suffered during the offseason.
Due to the discomfort in his left knee, the young catching prospect played in only two rehab games before being shut down.
It’s another setback for Rortvedt as his debut in Yankee pinstripes will need to wait just a little longer.
