Loaisiga becomes the third key member of the Yankees bullpen to land on the injured list. The right-hander is dealing with shoulder discomfort, per Aaron Boone.
Make it three pitchers out of the bullpen the Yankees have placed on the inured list — within the last week. Boone told reporters the news in advance of New York’s game with the Orioles tonight.
The injured list is beginning to fill up for the Yankees. Along with Loaisiga, closer Aroldis Chapman is dealing with Achilles tendinitis. Moreover, the Yankees lost setup man Chad Green to Tommy John surgery.
Pitching depth for the Yankees has been their strength this season, however losing three arms within the span of a week will test any MLB roster.
Loaisiga posted a 2.17 ERA over 70 2/3 innings last year, he was an integral piece in Boone’s game plan when getting the ball to Chapman for the ninth inning.
This season, however, Loaisiga hasn’t been as effective. His ERA jumped to 7.02 ERA through 16 2/3 innings.
