I don’t know what Jim Boeheim said to his players at halftime, but the Syracuse Orange came out firing.
After a somewhat dormant 20 minutes of basketball, Syracuse lit up the scoreboard in the second half.
Buddy Boeheim led the way with 23 points for the Orange in their 75-60 win over Drexel, Sunday at the Carrier Dome on Sunday.
After trailing by a point at halftime, Syracuse (2-0) outscored the Dragons 43-27.
Cole Swider and and Joe Girard added 11 points each and played integral roles in helping spark the Orange offense.
The Orange did a solid job defensively on Drexel’s key player, Camren Wynter. The team’s leading scorer from last season was held in check with just 11 points.
For much of the first half, however, Drexel (1-1) kept Syracuse off balance with draining 7 of 16 from the 3-point line.
Looking ahead for Syracuse
The Orange will next host Colgate on Saturday.
