The Nets don’t let too many days go by without keeping us talking about them at the water cooler.
We’re still very much in the midst of a quarantine, so maybe not too much around the water cooler. We’re, however, definitely on our phones tweeting and posting about this team.
Well, Brooklyn’s done it again with the news LaMarcus Aldridge is signing with the team for the remainder of this season.
Aldridge, a seven-time NBA All-Star, has averaged 19.4 points and 8.3 rebounds in his 15 seasons.
After reaching a buyout agreement with the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, the veteran forward quickly became a coveted free agent for contending teams.
Aldridge’s decision to join the Nets will further increase their chances of bringing an NBA Championship to Brooklyn. He’ll align with current All-Stars Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. Earlier this month, the Nets signed another former All-Star, Blake Griffin.
Aldridge can play power forward or center, giving Brooklyn a reliable post-up presence to play with its collection of outside threats.
The Nets, led by their Big 3, are in a two-three year window to maximize their opportunity for a championship. They’re clearly in the mindset they have what it takes to achieve their goals now.
