With Reggie Perry, the Brooklyn Nets maneuvered their way to a potential steal in the 2020 NBA Draft.
The Nets, with the 55th overall pick selected swingman Jay Scrubb out of John A. Logan College. However, before Scrubb could get comfortable, it was reported the Nets were dealing him to the Clippers for the 57th pick, which was used to grab Perry.
Scrubb would’ve been an intriguing pick for Brooklyn. He went the JUCO route due to being academically ineligible for a D-I scholarship out of high school. Scrubb parlayed that into becoming a two-time NJCAA DI First-Team All-American and the NABC NJCAA Player of the Year in 2020.
Scrubb decided to skip out on a commitment to Louisville, his hometown school, to declare for the draft. Keep an eye on his development with the Clippers.
In Perry, the Nets are getting a SEC Co-Player of the Year for Mississippi State. Perry had a strong sophomore, starting all 31 games he played and averaging 17.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. Perry earned All-SEC honors with his performance.
Perry, at 6’10” and 250 pounds, has some edge to his game. His toughness projects well for Brooklyn’s brand of grit.
