Landry Shamet is bringing his career 40.2 percent three-point shooting to Brooklyn.
The Nets traded away the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft to get Shamet. As part of a three-team deal, the Nets acquired him from the Clippers and shipped off their first-round pick, which turned out to be Villanova’s Saddiq Bey, to the Detroit Pistons. Luke Kennard was moved to the Clippers, from Detroit.
Shamet gives the Nets another shooter to bring off the bench. His time with the Clippers provided postseason experience which fits into Brooklyn’s championship goals.
Brooklyn is also getting a sharpshooter, with youth, at a friendly rate. Shamet, 23, will be under contract for just $2.1 million this upcoming season. There’s a team option of $3.8 million for 2021-22.
