Righty Saul Gonzalez goes to the Chicago Cubs for the right-handed Givens.
The 32-year old Givens is a familiar face to Mets manager Buck Showalter. When Givens pitched the first four years of his career with the Baltimore Orioles, Showalter was the manager.
While with the Cubs this season, Givens posted an impressive 2.66 ERA. He joins a Mets bullpen which includes Edwin Diaz, Adam Ottavino, Drew Smith, and Seth Lugo.
Additionally, help could be on the way from the injured list in Trevor May and Tylor Megill.
