Mitchell Robinson broke his right foot against the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night. Robinson, the starting center for the Knicks, will be re-evaluated when they return to New York on Sunday.
It’s a devastating blow for Robinson as his season will be derailed for a second time. He was in his fourth game back after returning from a broken right hand.
For the Knicks, losing Robinson again presents a depth issue in the front court. Veterans Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson will need to continue their excellent work with added playing time. The Knicks will likely also pursue available options on the market.
One name off that list is Andre Drummond. The unrestricted free-agent center is expected to sign with the Lakers when he clears waivers. Drummond was recently bought out of the remainder of his $28-million contract by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
