Durant, after requesting a trade out of the organization in late June, is moving forward with Brooklyn.
The star forward has rescinded his demand to be traded by the Brooklyn Nets, the team announced on Tuesday.
“Steve Nash and I, together with Joe Tsai and Clare Wu Tsai, met with Kevin Durant and Rich Kleinman in Los Angeles yesterday,” Nets general manager Sean Marks said in a statement. “We have agreed to move forward with our partnership. We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn.”
Per multiple reports, Durant met with Tsai in London in early August. With the goal to discuss his future with the team, Durant said he had no faith in the team’s direction at that time and wanted the Nets to choose between him and Marks and Nash.
Now, with all sides apparently reaching common ground, Durant is set to begin the first of a four-year, $198 million extension this season.
