When Brown officially signs his contract, the veteran left tackle will take the position he’s played his entire career. Fant will slide over to right tackle.
Without Mekhi Becton for what’s likely to be the entire 2022 season, the Jets moved quickly to sign Duane Brown.
Brown, a five-time Pro Bowl left tackle, has started 203 games in his career with the Texans and Seahawks since 2008.
The arrival of Brown raised the topic of him moving to the right side of the offensive line. By doing so, it would allow George Fant to remain at left tackle where he excelled last season. Throughout the offseason and early part of training camp, Becton was slotted to play at right tackle.
In practice on Sunday, any speculation was put to rest when Fant lined up on the right side.
Robert Saleh confirmed after practice Sunday who will be the team’s left tackle, with Fant manning the right side.
