Antonio Daye is withdrawing from the Fordham men’s basketball team and university.
The stunning news broke late Thursday night, rocking the Atlantic 10 conference and Fordham fan base.
Daye scored the game winning layup against Duquesne, Wednesday night at Rose Hill Gym. The win gave Fordham their first 2-0 start ever in Atlantic 10 play.
Men’s basketball player Antonio Daye, a Fordham junior, has announced his intention to withdraw from the University for personal reasons, and will not be competing with the team, effective Thursday, January 13, 2022. The University will not be releasing any further information on Mr. Daye’s decision. – Fordham released statement
Daye started 14 games for the Rams, while emerging as the team’s top offensive threat. He was averaging 16.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals on 34.6 minutes per game this season. It is unclear what his plans will be regarding his future in college basketball; but the 6-foot-3 junior will be stepping away from Fordham for the remainder of the 2021-2022 collegiate season.
