Aaron Wheeler is having the best stretch of his collegiate career, St. John’s is reaping the benefits.
The junior forward, via Purdue, has been thriving lately for the Red Storm.
Wheeler entered Monday night’s matchup vs Seton Hall, averaging 13.4 points in his last five games. He helped lead the way for St. John’s, with 17 points and 10 rebounds, to a commanding 84-63 road win over the Pirates.
What’s stood out during this stretch has been Wheeler’s play in Big East games.
After averaging 4.5 points per contest in non-conference action, Wheeler is now boasting 12.7 points per outing against league foes.
Maybe Wheeler, a native of Stamford, Connecticut, needed the bright lights of conference play to begin. Maybe there’s just something about the Big East which is bringing the best out of his game. The timing has been ideal for a Red Storm team looking to make their push with quality wins for their March resume.
