The Knicks exercised their team options on guard Immanuel Quickley and wing Quentin Grimes.
The team announced the good news on Tuesday, not long after also confirming they’ve picked up the 2023-24 option for Obi Toppin.
Quickley, at 23 years old, has been a go-to reserve for the Knicks since entering the league, averaging 11.4 PPG as a rookie and 11.3 PPG last season. The 25th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft became a fan favorite in his rookie season.
Grimes is coming off a promising rookie campaign in 2021-22 after being drafted at No. 25 overall. He can shoot the three-pointer at a high percentage, 38.1% from downtown last season for the Knicks. Grimes is a two-way player with a high basketball IQ. A sore left foot, however, has prevented him from making his season debut.
Grimes, Quickley, along with Toppin are at the center of a talented young core the Knicks are developing. Credit the front office for how well they’ve drafted the last couple of years. Optimism remains high the Knicks are heading in the right direction.
