McKethan, a fifth-round pick out of North Carolina earlier this year, was working at right tackle with the second team at the time of the injury.
The rookie offensive lineman will miss the season after suffering a torn ACL, the team confirmed Saturday.
McKethan was injured during the team’s Fan Fest scrimmage on Friday night and the team immediately called for the cart.
Once the injury was confirmed, McKethan was placed on the reserve/injured list.
With the Giants having depth issues early training camp, McKethan was seeing increased work at tackle. While at North Carolina, he started 37 of the 43 games he played.
With the youngster going down, it’s another body blow to the offensive line for the Giants. Earlier this week, offensive lineman Matt Gono went down with a serious neck injury. The team recently signed Will Holden to help offset the depth issues on the line.
McKethan is one of three offensive linemen drafted by the Giants this spring, including his former Tar Heels teammate, Josh Ezeudu, who has also been playing as a second-team guard and tackle for the Giants this summer.
