Wilson becomes the third Jets first-round draft pick to ink his rookie deal.
The wide receiver, out of Ohio State, was the No. 10 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. He brings a speedy vertical threat to the offense for second-year quarterback Zach Wilson.
Wilson had 70 receptions for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns for Ohio State, establishing himself as one of college football’s top wide receivers.
With the Jets, Wilson will join a receiving corps that includes Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios, and Denzel Mims.
Moreover, the tight ends are projected to be an upgrade this season for the Jets. C.J. Uzomah, Tyler Conklin, and third-round pick Jeremy Ruckert are all expected to contribute in meaningful ways for the offense.
Wilson, at 6-0, 188 pounds, ran a 4.38-second speed in the 40-yard dash. He has strong hands and runs precise routes.
“Aside from mental makeup, he’s got tremendous body control, range, great route-running ability, he’s got great versatility, he can win those one on ones in man coverage and when teams are up there in press,” coach Robert Saleh said recently of Wilson. “Obviously, there’s going to be things that he’s got to work on like every rookie does, but really excited to have him and the versatility that he’ll provide.”
The Jets now have all three of their first-round picks (Wilson, Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, and Jermaine Johnson) signed and ready to go.
