Fordham just didn’t have enough on offense to leave the state of Ohio with an upset.
The Rams put up a valiant effort, however it was the Flyers hanging on for a 68-61 win, Tuesday night.
Fordham (9-9 overall, 2-4 Atlantic 10) shot just 36.2% from the field, moreover they lost the rebound battle, 44-24.
Despite 18 turnovers from Dayton (13-7 overall, 5-2 Atlantic 10) the Rams were unable to generate enough offense to take advantage.
Darius Quisenberry, the Atlantic 10’s leading scorer, finished with a team-high 17 points, however only on 4 of 16 shooting. Quisenberry, coming off a 36-point performance against Davidson, was the focal point of Dayton’s defense in the first half.
Josh Colon-Navarro (15 points) and Kyle Rose (11 points) chipped in for the Rams, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Flyers.
Daron Holmes II led Dayton with a game-high 19 points.
For the Rams, their toughness on defense continues to impress. Despite the challenges on offense, this is still a team which appears to be responding well to first-year head coach Kyle Neptune.
