Seton Hall is looking to snap a two-game losing streak and get back on track.
Their loss at Providence should be the last reminder to Seton Hall about maintaining focus this season. In the unpredictable Big East conference nothing is guaranteed, absolutely nothing.
That smooth road through the NCAA Tournament which awaits the Pirates can turn into a bumpy one quickly. All it takes is another loss or two like their most recent setback.
Back-to-back losses to, Creighton and Providence, have taken some of the shine off the resume for Seton Hall. The good news, however, is it’s still an impressive resume to take into Selection Sunday.
But the reality can’t be ignored. The Pirates must tighten up their issues quickly. They fell behind by as much as 25 points in the first half to Providence. Slow starts have been an issue this season for head coach Kevin Willard’s team.
This is dangerous territory for Seton Hall
They’re good enough to run the table and cut down the nets for a national championship. The problem, depending on how one chooses to view it, is they know how good they can be.
For all the good headlines surrounding Seton Hall, it can all change in a New York Minute in the Big East this season. Their losing streak dropped them in the AP rankings from 10th in the country to 16th. That huge road win over Villanova, that helped give the Pirates a three-game lead in the conference, seems like a long time ago all of a sudden. Now, heading into their next game at home against Butler, they’re clinging to a one-game lead over Creighton and one and a half game lead over the Wildcats.
Fans can expect Willard to have his players ready for Butler. It’s situations such as this he’s qualified to handle and get under control before it spirals into disaster.
This isn’t time to push the panic button, but it’s a reminder for this team to regain their focus before the Big East tournament.
