Syracuse will host Lehigh in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, December 18 in the Carrier Dome.

- Syracuse and Lehigh have met four times previously.
- The Orange have claimed victory in each of the four previous pairings against the Mountain Hawks. The teams first squared off on March 3, 1923 in Archbold Gym, where the Orange emerged victorious, 28-16.
- The schools last tussled in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse’s opening contest of the 2015-16 season on November 13. Michael Gbinije led the Orange to victory, 57-47, with a team-high 16 points. The 2015-16 team made the NCAA Tournament as a 10-seed and advanced to the Final Four for the fifth time with head coach Jim Boeheim at the helm.
The Mountain Hawks finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 4-11 overall record. The team lost its opening contest in the Patriot League Tournament to Boston University, 69-58. Coach Brett Reed is entering his 15th season at the helm in Bethlehem. He holds a 233-189 record in 13 seasons at Lehigh and is the winningest coach in program history. Reed last led the Mountain Hawks to the NCAA Tournament in 2012, when Lehigh knocked off two-seed Duke, 75-70, in the first round, behind 30 points from future NBA star, C.J. McCollum.
Syracuse was 18-10 last season and secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight year in which the competition was held. The eleventh-seeded Orange upset San Diego State and West Virginia to advance to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to Final Four-bound Houston. Jim Boeheim, who ranks second in career wins among Division I mentors, is now preparing for his 46th season as head coach at his alma mater.
