Chris Herndon has the potential to make it big in the NFL. The Jets, however, have run out of patience.
The Jets traded Herndon and a 2022 sixth-round pick for a 2022 fourth-round pick, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Herndon is heading to the Minnesota Vikings, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Minnesota is sending “draft compensation” in return . The New York Post reported the Vikings are sending a 2022 fourth-round pick to the Jets.
The trade came down Tuesday night, just before teams had to cut their rosters down to 53 players. The Jets drafted the pass-catching tight end out of Miami with a fourth-round pick in 2018.
After a promising rookie season, Herndon spent the last two seasons dealing with injuries, inconsistent play, and suspensions.
His Jets’ career ends with 71 receptions, 796 yards and seven touchdowns in 33 games.
