Rookie Obi Toppin is expected to participate in the 2021 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, per multiple reports.
NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic tweeted the exciting news which could have Knicks fans excited to see if Toppin can bring home the trophy.
Toppin, out of Dayton University, has appeared in 23 games so far this season. The Knicks selected him with the eighth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Toppin was a high-flyer at Dayton with a highlight-reel of dunks off the fast break. In his rookie season, he’s seen limited playing time behind All-Star John Randle. When he’s on the court, however, the dunk has been his go-to move.
The Slam Dunk contest is set to take place, March 7, at halftime of the All-Star Game.
